Originally from Tokyo, Japan, Dr. Haneishi has been living in the U.S. for almost 20 years. After graduating from Juntendo University in Japan, she earned a master’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Memphis and a second master’s degree in Exercise and Sport Studies (concentration in College Coaching) from Smith College (MA). During her tenure as head women’s soccer coach at Mount Holyoke College (MA), she has completed her doctoral degree (Ed.D.) from the University of Massachusetts Amherst focusing on Sport Pedagogy in Coaching. After coaching women’s soccer for 17 years at NCAA Division I and Division III as well as youth clubs, she currently serves as an Associate Professor of Kinesiology and Human Performance at Valley City State University in ND. Dr. Haneishi was an accomplished soccer player, winning the NCAA Division II National Championship title with Christian Brothers University (TN) and a Silver Medal at the World University Games with the Japanese National Team. She was also the team captain for New York Magic, a semi-pro team in New York City, for 6 years.
