After graduating from the University of North Dakota in 2000 with a degree in Business Education, Ryan has taught Business Education and coached a variety of sports at Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, North Dakota for the last 22 years. Ryan received his master’s degree in Career and Technical Education in 2006, also from UND. Ryan has served as a football coach, track coach, and golf coach during his time in Hillsboro. He is currently a junior high football coach and is the school’s head golf coach for the varsity boys’ program, where he has been named Region Coach of the Year four times and earned North Dakota High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year honors for boys’ golf in 2019. Ryan has coached several top five teams at the NDHSAA golf tournament held every spring. Ryan continues to coach and teach by stressing to students/athletes about the importance of roles and how to handle them. He believes students can use this philosophy in their daily lives, which will lead to success off the field and into their daily lives.
